I already have a Resume and a Behance

Uhhh! I'm so fancy. I decided to give in to the temptation and created a resume (or "Curriculum Vitae" to be fancy).

Fortunately, I never had the need to create one, so this is the first one. I decided to go for a more creative and clean way, instead of the usual boring white sheet with a lot of information about me. After all, this is a visual area, so the CV must have a more refined image than regular CVs.
I made it as simple as possible by reducing the information to what really matters, without unnecessary extra information. And while I'm not a designer, I was careful with alignments, fonts, etc.

And even more so, I managed to get enough energy to lift a majestic account on Behance. Check it out here.

At History's Door

Last year I was asked to participate in the production of a series of documentaries for RTP Internacional (Portuguese Channel). My colleague Ana Cardoso joined me in this adventure. Together, we had to create all the graphic work of the series and also the small animated excerpts during the episodes.

In each episode, we get to know a character who contributed to the history of Portugal, but who the public barely knows. They are people who therefore stood at the door of history (that's why the name of the series).

Animating was easy. The hardest part was to create the graphic work, as this is an area wich we are not so used. One of the biggest challenges was to create the logo for the series. It had to be something simple and easy to read. We chose to use an effect like the DYMO tape, which was used in the old times.

Much of the material that they gave us to work with was mostly newspapers, so we decided to use the newspapers as the basis for the opening and credits. That's why the generics are created with the paper base and the DYMO tape

We tried a different style in every episode so that it would fit the character highlighted.

You can watch the first two episodes in RTP Play:

Biztroo

It seems like it was yesterday, but it wasn't. I made this animation last year for the company Globness Solutions. I still hadn't shared it on the blog.

Biztroo from Pipe Fonseca on Vimeo.

The technique I used was 2D animation on real backgrounds made of cardboard.
First I built all the sets in cardboard, photographed them and recorded them (because they also have movement).

I started with the shoes factory.

I managed to place the "levers" at the back of the backgrounds so it was possible to move the machines. I ended up painting some elements to give color to the scene.

Then I build the office which was in the same place that the factory.

Then I went to the casting stage and into the audience seats.

Finally, the last stage. The clouds were hanging by wires.

With this done, I started shooting the scenes. The backgrounds of the factory and the city were illuminated only by sunlight. I wanted it to be the only light source. To the stage I used lanterns for light.

After all this I drew the characters in the computer.

I moved on to the animation. Here, I had the help of my colleague Ana Cardoso, who helped me paint the characters. For animation and painting we used the Toon Boom software.

I enjoyed working on this animation, it gave me a lot of joy. However, it is too long and it's not easy to understand. I would like to change some things and take out some others to be simpler. It's hard to notice that it is an online application for companies.

I want to live in CascaiShopping

Turn ON the english subtitles.

Side note - CascaiShopping is a Shopping in Cascais (the place where I live).

If you have a friend/mother/woman who is crazy about shopping you should show them this video. In my case it's my sister. And it was for her that I made this animation (with a lot of love).
It took me a year and a half to make this video. Initially the plan was to offer it to her on her birthday last year. I couldn't make it. Then I wanted to offer it on her anniversary this year. Failed again. But it's finally over. It came late but it's here, that's what matters.

In fact, I had the idea to do this animation in 2011, when I was in my first year of college. At the time  I didn't have enough knowledge (or time) to animate this. I had to wait until finishing the course in 2013 to finally start working on it. I started in January 2014 and ended in July 2015. Not bad for something done between jobs during free time. A one man show in which I did everything ... even sing to your own misfortune.

Past four years since I've had this idea, I still have so much to improve on animation and drawing. My knowledge increased, my wallet is still at zero, Bata closed (and the video has that gaf now) and my sister is less shopaholic. Ahh! And I learned a lot about clothes and fashion, such as the CeA would never have dresses as the ones I drew in the beginning of the video (which was pointed out to me and seems to be true).
