Giant Spiders in Lisbon

Sorry it's in portuguese. There's no english version.

I was lucky enough to participate in this ad for the comic books "Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy". I was responsible for animating the spiders you see.
I'm not very good at 3D animation. The only thing I can do, more or less, in Maya (the 3D software used here) is animate. I had some difficulty, but I learned with my mistakes. The animation and post-production was done in IRMALUCIA, where I've been between October and November. It was very gratifying to see how the magic of special effects happen, and my only regret is not having paid more attention to what they were doing there. Yes, because all the things you see in movies / television that don't catch your attention had to be thought and worked for long hours by someone.

I would like to show you some interesting things but I didn't work on my computer, so I don't have many things except this:

Anyway, I animated the spiders but I don't have the faintest idea of the work that was done to seem so real and so well integrated. Maybe one day I'll lean on it and discover the world of post-production.

Yesterday's disgrace

I don't know what to say. Yesterday's class was so unfortunate for me, poor thing. I'm going to get them a Photoshop makeup.

Nop. Not even Photoshop can save this. Oh well...

My first animation

I thought it would be funny to post here my first animation ever. That got me thinking when was the first time I made an animation and that took me to the high school times.

I was in senior year and had to do this homework for the  Drawing class. It's a flipbook (a little book in which we make a drawing per sheet). This was in 2009, I never thought of scanning it and edit it in the computer to see the final result.... a disaster.

It's weird but for a first time it's not bad ...for someone who knew nothing of the matter.

Today I look back and I see that my high school time was very enriching thanks to an awesome teacher I had. I was in an Arts course and we did a bit of everything. Whatever the path that we followed, at least we were somewhat prepared for the next step. We weren't just drawing in this class. We made models, artwork, graphic works, photographs, montages, texts and even animation.
Above all , we were taught to think (I already said here that drawing is a way of thinking) and in this is where my teacher was very clever .

Every week we had a job to do in the Sketch Book that was given in a statement . This statement let us always thinking, as a riddle or puzzle. Only after solving the problem we could draw. Our answers to the teacher was the drawings. Very insightful, indeed.

Some day I'll post here some of these old Sketchbook drawings.

Today's class

"There he goes, posting more scribbled drawings that suck."
YES I WILL! And I'll do it with opened chest, like chicken's do. And I'll also cluck. I'm amazing when I cluck.

Anyway, I have so much to improve. Mainly on making fewer scribbles.

There's someone naked in my class

A few weeks ago I was having lunch with family (me, my parents and my sister) in a brazillian restaurant. I took the Sketch Book to draw, but as usual, I din't touch it ... I filled the table's role with drawings, instead. It is a temptation for me to go to a restaurant and not draw on the table. I don't like when there's no pen. As soon as I finish eating I start to sketch on the paper. " Childrens are the ones who do that", you say . Well, for some reason I chose animation. Some people like it . The employee, who was a very fun and friendly Brazilian started talking with me saying he'd keep the drawings. It seems that they keep all the drawings that people make on the tables so one day they can decorate an entire wall with people's drawings. It's an original idea .

Seeing a drawing in my Sketch Book, my sister asked if we had a nude model. "Of course" I replied. Then, my mother got shocked, more shocked that an egg in a frying pan.
I explained that I had already taken nude classes before, since 2010 exactly. For me, it's already a natural thing which I don't even think about, so it's funny to see people's reaction (even if that people are my family, who should already know) .

So, here's some drawings of a naked women (O.O get shocked!).
